Milia Maroun is recognized as one of Lebanon’s elite fashion designers. With a degree in fashion from Esmod, she worked for years in well-established fashion houses in France. In 2000 she returned to Beirut and launched her own brand milia m.
Over the span of 22 collections, milia m built on the brand’s peculiar attention to detail and its timeless design attributes. Her clothing has been described as “subverting expectations of the familiar- a mixture of “contemporary design”, and feminine accents utilizing an imaginative interplay of transparency, folds and openings that wrap the body and sensuously suggest more than is actually revealed.
In Beirut, milia mʼs flagship store is located in the trendy Beirut-downtown area of Saifi Village. The brand today has garnered a notable global reputation and a robust worldwide client base, across many countries, namely: France, Spain, UK, USA, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Venezuela, Australia, KSA, UAE, Jordan, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, and Senegal.
milia m designs have been regularly featured in international magazines such as Glamour, Tendencias, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan Italy, Madame Figaro Japan, and LʼOfficiel Levant. milia m collections have been exhibited in Paris, Milan and Tokyo. The brand received public acclaim in fashion shows at the launch of the Abu Dhabi Fashion week and at the Milan Fashion Week in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
In the past 12-years her designs have been featured at prominent international events, some of which include the International Design Biennale at Saint Etienne, the Sawaya-Moroni event “Switch on Lebanese Design” show (2004), and the Boghossian Foundation Exhibition at the Villa Empain (March 2012) in Brussels. Having lived in Beirut, Paris, Damascus, Istanbul, and London, Milia Maroun’s experience with these varied cultures provides a rich palette for her own inspirations.
