Zuhair Murad Haute Couture F/W 2019-2020
Diala Aschkar
, Art Director at Orient Palms, France
For his Fall-Winter 2019 Haute Couture collection, Zuhair Murad was inspired by a recent trip to Morocco where a whirlwind of elements — traditional carpets motifs, djellabas in markets, turbans, women’s caftans — nurtured his imagination and creativity. The result is a lavish procession of silk, satin or taffeta garments, sumptuously beaded with motifs resembling traditional tribal tattoos, in warm desert tones of gold, brick, orange, amber, amaranth and green. Jewlery-like belts and headbands completed this North African theme.
Floor-sweeping skirts, capes and sleeves elongated the silhouettes and added glamour and theatricality as they trailed behind the models.

From ocean to shore
Zuhair Murad S/S 2019
Diala Aschkar
, Art Director at Orient Palms, France
The aquatic theme was very present for this Summer 2019 season, but it was sublimated by the talented Zuhair Murad. Set in the spectacular Hotel Potocki the Haute Couture show evoked the beauty of the deep and the frenzy of the ocean surface through 59 shimmering outfits, covered with seashell, wave, and frothy ocean-foam patterns. The catwalk floor looked surreal, painted in blue and golden motifs as if to immerse Murad’s sea nymphs who passed by in flowing fabrics, and (for many) with a train continuing the fluidity of the aquatic apparitions.

Zuhair Murad Couture S/S 2017
Diala Aschkar
, Art Director at Orient Palms, France
Zuhair Murad celebrates beauty, opulence and fashion in his Haute Couture Spring Summer 2017 collection. Inspired by the fireworks he has recently witnessed on the Japanese island Miyajima, Murad lights his show with "pyrotechnic" dresses glimmering in Swarovski Crystals. Also inspired by the eighties — the cuts, volume, shoulders — Murad transforms his runway – using disco music and colored changing lights – into a nightclub! With their spectacular volumes and glittery elegance, these 20 dresses are also a fun reference to the eighties TV series Dynasty.
