Vibrant Gipsies

Trends, S/S 2016

A vibrant and flirtatious gipsy was seen in a variety of ways at this Spring Summer 2016 season, especially at Manish Arora, Diane Von Furstenberg and Reem Acra.

Manish Arora presented an eccentric psychedelic Gipsy with an Eastern European style that could well be a candy-version of Gina Lollobrigida’s famous Esmeralda. He used vivid colors, a multitude of eye catching patterns and layers, fringes and giant earrings.

Diane Von Furstenberg went more for a 70’s style Coachella bohemian. The patchwork of flower motifs, the fresh summer colours and the wavy hair attached with flowers, all gave a very romantic feel.

Reem Acra’s collection used Middle-Eastern folkloric cloths vocabulary to create an original and special kind of Bohemian that was materialized in a variety of oriental-inspired belts, turbans and a new take on caftans.

The Reem Acra caftans below, in Sayeh-like fabric, remind of the Levantine style.
