Kaelen

Toronto native Kaelen Haworth first graduated in 2007 from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada with a degree in English literature, but her love of design eventually inspired her to enroll at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City after graduation. While studying, she held positions at MTV, Jenni Kayne and Stella McCartney, all of which helped her gain working knowledge of the fashion retail business. Kaelen began conceptualizing a world where clothes embodied a sophisticated, classic, and clean style while maintaining the ease of someone who appreciates individuality, and by 2010, her eponymous womenswear brand KAELEN was launched.

Kaelen debuted her first collection during Fall New York Fashion Week in February 2010, focusing on layered knits and off-kilter shapes that juxtaposed drapery and sharp tailoring. Since then she has continued to embrace experimentation by playing with asymmetrical hemlines and redefining the button-down shirt, which she considers a wardrobe staple. While she has drawn inspiration from elements ranging from a tornado chase she experienced to Sam Haskin’s book "Cowboy Kate" and most recently, the Roaring Twenties forher Fall 2012 collection, Kaelen always infuses her own sense of what is effortless, modern and cool.
